Question Overflow Question - 02-03-2010, 05:50 PM

well im planning on purchacing a cpr90 overflow system which is rated at 600 gph, my question is what kind of return pump should i use and how much gph should it have.. my sump is not under my tank either it is about 2 feet above my tank my other question is how do i get the water from the overflow to the sump? i would prefer not to move my sump as it is full and running but i will if i have to.. any suggestions?
thanks.
~Brandon

You are going to have to put the pump in your tank to send the water to your sump and then have it gravity feed back to the tank using the overflow.

That is your only option w/o moving it below the tank.

As for what pump to use, you will need something that with the height it needs to travel, that will be under 600gph or you risk overflowing the sump or tank (depending how you rig the system up).

Have a great day!

I looked at this question earlier, and the only thing I could think of is what Scott said. A huge draw back to this set up is that you could never keep you display tank full of water because when the power fails (and it will) it would overflow.

ok well thank you both for the info, i have decided to just move the sump below my tank sounds like it would be a much better way to do it.
