Ummmm to chill the water. I live in Australia and it is the middle of summer right now. 30 degrees C + (not sure what that is converted to F).
So thats why I have it.

30 degrees C + is 86 F (Fahrenheit)
Cant wait to see the tank as it starts to develop.
Good luck with it :)

Nice setup Fugly. Once the rocks come in, it'll make a great addition to the tank. Post more pics as things progress.

Tnx everyone! :D I will surely add new pics as it progresses.
I decided it was fully matured today with the past few days reading absolutely 0 for ammonia and nitrite. Nitrate is also very low as I did a 10% water change yesterday. There is also a new addition today with my first serious coral. It is an open brain and can be seen here

Enjoy, and any suggestions as to corals to add would be greatly appreciated. :)
Oh yeah tnx PH I am planning on a couple more for the *schooling* effect.

When can I expect to see some coraline algae growth on the glass? I am experiencing new growth on some of my older live rock though not on glass. Any suggestions??

What's your calcium level?
It took me nearly a year to start getting some rapid coralline growth on my tank. Calcium, and a low-lit tank is the key. If you want, aim a powerhead on the coralline algae to spread the spores around the tank, increasing your chances in getting more coralline.

Thanx for the advice PH. I had thought as much to point the power head over the new growth, and it seems to excel on the LR just not on the glass. Will my two MHs make this process worse because of their intensity???

I can't tell you an accurate answer on that. Although I can say this. After I upgraded to my 2, 400wt Radiums, nearly all of my coralline has died off on the glass, and in some parts on the rocks :(

I am planning on some clowns and an anemone any ideas?? :?:

Clowns: Yes
Anemones: No
I wouldn't recommend an anemone for anyone. For the most part they do best in the wild, where they should be kept. Some can be extremely difficult to keep in captivity. Most will need specific feedings, specific invironments, and if anything doesn't fit their needs, they'll move. This gives them a chance to sting other corals in the tank, as well as the posibility to get stuck in a power head. Clowns don't need anemones to live in captivity. They do in th wild where predators can eat them, but in captivity they dont. They'll do fine with a nice leather, colt, tree, frogspawn, torch, xenia, etc.
Although, if you want to buy one, go right ahead. Just make sure you do the proper reaserch! And try to get everything but the best for the anemone. They will continue to move around the tank until they find a correct area, till the day they die. I would also wait until your tank is mature, preferbaly over 7 months until you add an anemone. I completely discorage anemone's being bought, but as everyone says; "Your tank ~ Your choice" :)

Tnx. I will take your advice into consideration PH. I might just go with a really big torch. :) Any types you could suggest? I really want the clowns to have a host section within the tank somewhere. 8)
I am also keen for some pics and or info of any clams you have PH... also interested in them for future reference. :)

Crocus Clam (T. crocea), is often referred to as the "jewel of the reef" for its wide range of spectacular colors, with their purples, blues, yellows, reds, etc. This is the most light-loving clam of the genus, and requires particularly intense light, metal halides prefered. Also, it has the srongest byssal attachment (because of its usual place at the top of the reef where it can be buffeted by strong currents), therefor it requires a hard surface for it to attach to; rockwork does best, or being attached to a rock, and gently being placed on top of the substrate if lighting is good enough. Among the Tridacnid clams, the crocea clam can withstand the highest current, low-to-medium current as compared with the very low-to-low current required by other clams.

In regards to the clowns, if you are looking for attitude go with a pair of maroon clwons and perhaps a rose bulb or standard bulb anenome, if not I would go with a pair of saddlebacks...

Yeah I was maybe thinking of going with Tomato clowns. Or maybe even Melanopus?? If not the melanopus I think I will go with the frenatus(Tomatos).
Gonna get a massive bit of torch coral for them to host.

What do you guys in the US pay for your Clams Graham??
I got this one from Murray (Reefer6), for $35.00, which is quite a deal!
Generally, Clams go between $20.00-$200.00, depending on size, coloration, and species. The general Crocea, around 4-5" would be around $50.00
