Here is a pic of my tank. I'm not the happiest with the pic, it was taken shortly after a water changew and a few of the corals are unhappy, and the toadstool is shedding, but it is the latest full tank shot that I have taken, for some reason I hate taking full tank shots http://64.207.13.28/mysmilies/otn/funny/tomato.gif More can be found here, that shows some of the tank progression as well as the photography progression... http://www.reefrunner.netfirms.com/nano-nano.htm

3.34 effective mega-pixels. When I bought it it was about standard for the high end cameras, now...it doesn't have the MP of the high end cams of today, but it still takes a darn good pic.

Ok now I noticed in your full tank shots that you have a film on your water surface.

I have the same thing and it increases the surface tension to the point where I physically have to stick my hand in the tank to break it up. My water readings are all great, but it seems to come on strong for a while...then goes away...then comes back ( like a endless cycle). Anyone know what it is from? :?

Ok now I noticed in your full tank shots that you have a film on your water surface.

Whenever the skimmer was turned off, or the tank was too full (HOB skimmer had the overflow box) the DOC would form a film on the surface of the water. I think in those pics one of the two (or both :P ) of those occurred.

The film is DOC, I assume you have an overflow...I seem to remember some pics showing your sump...How much water are you turning over in your sump? I just added a HOB refugium (it has an overflow rather than pumpint the water into it), since adding the overflow, I have no more DOC film on the water. It could simply be a matter of not enough waterflow to remove the film via the overflow.

Humm...Maybe I can add another overflow and just replumb the tanks return to thr sump to add more current and eventually purchase a larger Mag Drive Pump. My current Mag is 500 Gal. Per Hr.

LOL, no not high maintenance at all! They are a weed, and will grow to pest proportions. Mine has always been happy, but never really spread shile I got it about 6mos ago. About 2 weeks ago, I removed a 6 line wrasse from my tank (cause he had been nipping at the xenia polyps) and the coral has doubled in size!!In two weeks!!! Might put the wrasse back in the tank!!

how do u regulate calcium and nitrate levels

Calcium and ALK are maintained by Kalkwasser and regular water changes, nitrates are controlled with LR a shallow sand bed, regular water changes and a refugium.
