I thought brittle Stars were filter feeders? I have one that is going after a weak (Almost dead snail) are the brittle stars aggresive scavengers? meaning if the sense something is weak They eat it..

Brittle stars are not filter feeders, but feed off of meaty foods, that is why some people discurage them in reefs; they might eat your fish.
As far as feeding goes, my star loves silver sides, lance fish, and chopped squid. I love watching them eat too, they take their tentacle, pick up the food, and stick it in their mouth. I would just place the food right next to it, and it should sence the food, and start eating.

My Albertsons sells squid, which I will chop up into small peices. Silver Sides and lance fish can be bought frozen from your LFS, same with the squid. I personally wouldn't buy them from a bait shop. Frozen foods tend to have much more calcium and vitimins for the animal/invert, that will make it much more healthy. Also, most of the time the water used to feeze it plankton based. You never know what the bait shop has done with it, you only want the healthiest foods.

I actually put a piece of food on the end of a wooden stick and feed mine. I think he is spoiled now.
