Anyways about your skimmer:
You should test to see if you even need one first. I have a small 10 gal half the size of yours and it doesn't need protein skimming. You may very well have to, in the later stages of your tank but I would wait until it is necessary.
What filtration??
Trickle?? Sump.
If you have a second sump tank then I suggest you use one.

Protien skimmers help when you have a large fish load for your tank size. If your fish load is right and you do weekly 10% water changes, you shouldnt need one.
To see what the recommended fish load for your tank is , use the calculators on www.aquariumadvice.com

If you plan on keeping SPS corals corals your going to want to have a skimmer. It will save you time. I would get a bak-pak.

You don't need a skimmer, esspecielly for such a small tank. As long as you do regular water changes, have a light fish load, and don't over feed, you could very easily go without one. They're recommended for larger tanks, although it's all up to you. If you want to spend the time and money on a skimmer, go right ahead :)

There is a guide, but no exact answer. It's 1" of fish per 5 gallons. I find this completely incorrect for most fish, although it can guide you the right way. Which fish do you have, as well as their sizes?

With 3 fish, I consider that a heavy load, esspecially considering them full grown. Now you're very light, which is quite good :) What kind of anemone is that, and how's it doing?

drilling a hood and/or tank and running two lines, one down and one back for a skimmer is not that hard. If you take a second to look at the tank you will probably find a quick way....as for the skimmer it is your own personnal choice but I would go with something chaep that would last a while but not do to much or to little work, IMO a SeaClone (yes that's right I just recomended a seaclone :? ) is a fairly cheap skkimmer at 59.99 at petwarehouse.com and it would be within budget. They arn't the best skimmers in thwe world but they do just enough skimming, not to much or to little IMO&E

I ALSO USED ECLIPSE 2 FOR OVER TWO YEARS AND LEARNED ALOT FROM IT.BUT TO LET U KNOW THAT THERE ISN'T MUCH U CAN DO TO UPGRADE UR ECLIPSE.NOT ONLY THE REPLACEMENT FILTERS COST ALOT OF MONEY THE LIGHTING ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH TO KEEP ANYTHING OTHER THAN SMALL FISHES.IT IS A GREAT LEARNING TANK AND GOOD TO KEEP FEW FISHES WITH BUT PLEASE DON'T SPEND UR MONEY ON ANYTHING OTHER THAN FISHES AND LIVE ROCKS.KEEP LOTS OF LIVE LOCK CAUSE IT WILL BE UR BEST FILTERATION FOR UR TANK.5% WATER CHANGE ATLEAST ONCE A MONTH AND IF U REALLY WANT A SKIMMER TRY PICOLLO OR INSUMP BERLINE 60.CHEAP AND IT WILL DO IT'S JOB.I HAVE FEW FRIEND WITH ECLIPSE AND THEY HAVE BEEN HAPPY WITH IT.PLEASE DON'T KEEP MOR THAN THREE TO FOUR FISHES. :P
