Any body ever cooked there used carbon in the oven to regenerate. If so, at what temp? How long? May be I'm barking at the moon!
mike
if so that would be great. at $9.99 a bag every two weeks i would love to reuse it. :D

The only real way to re-activate activated carbon is do what was done to it in the first place - heat it to at least 500 deg. C (1000 deg F). Industrial reactivators use more like 750 deg. C. So forget it unless you have access to a kiln.

Didn't TFH have a question just like this in the latest issue? IIRC, the answer was a resounding "NO".

Most major manufacturers of activated carbon also reactivate carbon since they already have the facilities for it. Lots of water treatment plants reactivate their own.

I take all of my carbon to the communitie college and place it into their kelm in their pottery class room. The teacher does not mind and I split some of my carbon with him for his reef.

It takes ALOT of heat to regenerate carbon... We (a large public aquarium) throw ours away, its not cost efficient to regenerate carbon
