Can someone recommend a nice schooling fish for my 55 gallon tank. I would like to get about 5 small fish that don't grow to more than 3/4 inches each. Since I will have them with a couple clowns and a Mandarin, I don't want them too aggressive.

I've seen the green chromis, but I would like something with a little more "flashy color."

Thanks for your suggestions!

PS . . . Sorry for posting in the wrong forum

Well Reef Chromis have good colouring... A little bigger than your ¾ of an inch!! Spotted Cardinals don't really have 'great colours' so I think with your 55 gal, your probably best off with a group of yellow tangs. No only joking! no tangs :)

How about a few Orange Lined cardinal fish. "As a group, they will establish a strict hierarchy without aggressiveness". They look good, never seen them in a LFS, but I'm sure you'd find them!

Good luck with the choice.

I'm sorry I meant 3 or 4 inches, not 3/4 of an inch. I guess I should be more clear.

thanks for the reply!

I think 4 or 5 bangaii cardinals would be great! Just remember to have some long spine sea urchins for them to rear offspring among the spines. Really cool effect!

I am all for the school of tangs. Any kind would work. (joking) I had 15 green chromis at one time and they are great adn add some great color to a tank. My puffer had brought the poppulation down to 6 now but I am adding more when I get my refugium set up to help with the bio-load.
