My two inch Domino Damsel has been moved to his own tank and I'm wondering if there are any fish I can add that will get along with him even when he grows to full size. The tank is a 55 gallon and he is by himself now.

Have you thought about an eel. At a LFS here they have a 50 gallon corner display with a 3 foot Spotted Eel and a 3 inch Domino Damsel.

actually, the thought of an eel has crossed my mind. If I get a small one, will it get along with my damsel without eating it?
what species should I look at getting, I don't want anything that will outgrow the tank.

Eels will eat anything that they can fit in their mouth. So in the best interest of the damsel try getting a "reletively" small eel like a Snowflake Eel. They should only get about 18-20" I think. You should be able to get one under a foot that can't eat you damsel. Snowflakes IMO are the least agressive of the eels. Also just make sure the eels eats because damsels are known to steal food from eels.

I think the most docile eel would be the zebra moray. It does not even have the right sort of teeth to eat fish. it is more designed to eat crustacians and stuff like that. I think it prolly gets too big for your tank though. The one's at my lfs are huge, prolly over 2 feet easy. They are housed with very passive fish and seem to get along fine.

I agree with Tex, my zebra Moray is as peacful as possible and he is
19' X1'.

He could possibly eat anything around him but does not - two years running, past and present tankmates include Damsels, clowns and now tiggers.

I've seen him grab my biggest trigger in his mouth, during feeding, and quickly let him go - real bad eyesight.

Great Fish!!
