You are right, esspecielly for the more delecate species of inverts, such as the Purple Linkia Star, which can require up to 14hrs of aclamation, depending on the way you are doing it. Im glad you said that to your LFS, someone needed to tell them that. As far as snails and brittle stars go, I would say 4-6 hours would be good, esspecielly since starfish must ajust slowly.

I definitely agree as well, good job at pointing out major errors by those trusted by the public.

They always say 10 to 15 minutes, no mater what you buy. One time I asked why only 10-15 minutes, and I usually get " Thats what my boss said to say" or " I dont know why "
I think you are better off waiting longer then 10-15 minutes for any thing you buy at LFS. You can always check online before you buy to see how long for acclamation.
Thanks for pointing this out to your LFS as well as our members :)

In my personal experience, I usually acclimate my new livestock for approximately 1 hour. I remove half the bag water and drip water in until full again, then remove half again and drip again. I do this process 3 times then remove most of the water and add the livestock. I have yet to lose anything do to acclimation shock. I don't rcommend this, just telling you what I do.

pencil urchins can easily lose there spines, and are sensitive to excess iodine, and do not tolerate any amount of copper...
