I was just talking about this in another chatroom and thought I'd post it here... the topic dealt with a refugium being used to raise copepods, and how the tank owner could use UV on the 'fuge's return line.
In my caulerpa bed, I use Envirosystems Miracle Mud that comes pre-seeded with copepods. To keep the 'pods out of the return system, I have a large sponge filter in my siphon tank (the kind most people put in overflow boxes). The copepods love living in the sponge filter. Once I have a pretty good population of them built up in the sponge, I just take it out and float it in my display tank for a day or two. With the suction gone, the copepods are free to disperse into the tank. It works great... I expect one would have the same results with a sponge filter stuck on a powerhead, and if that were the case you could run UV.
I have a puffer and a Bali maroon clown that go crazy when they see the sponge coming!
