I have a 125 gallon aquarium and I finally have water in it! YAY! Everything is functioning properly and I going to be ordering liverock and substrate prolly on wednesday. I plan to do a fish only with live rock tank and my two main fish I am wanting are a picasso trigger and a porcupine puffer. The rest of the fish will be of comparable aggression but I am not too sure of what else I will get. My question is, are there any invertabrates that can be housed with these fish? I imagine shrimp are out pretty quick! How about a lobster? Could I put a couple of really big hermit crabs in the tank? Are there any inverts that can go into a tank with these sort of fish? Thanks for any information

in hawaii i saw a trigger spend around 45 min trying to get a lobster out of a crack. it kept biting off it's feeler's, finally i shot the trigger, but when i was night diving you would see triggers swimming around with large crabs, etc. so basically no, nothing will go with it. they are very curious and will sample anything
In our 180 we have a Niger, Picasso, and Blue Jaw Trigger with a coral banded shrimp, skunk cleaner shrimp, and about 30-35 hermit crabs. We use to have 30 Turbo snails... they didn't last long :( The hermit crabs have figured out that they need to hide during the day and scavenge at night. The shrimp pretty much have free range of the tank, I have even seen the cleaner servicing the Niger. None of the Triggers are bigger than 6" but so far we haven't had any issues. I do see problems with the Picasso and the hermits later on, he loves to bite shells... just ask the snails LOL.
Good luck,
Jason

Awsome! Thanks for the info!
when you say shot.........do you mean spearfishing? And no I am not going to go all hippy conservationist on you. hehe My dad has a pretty wicked gun. tri-tipped spear that spans about 7 inches across and the gun uses shotgun blanks. I doubt there is much that he couldn't kill with that monster. hehe He used to work at a dive shop so he just pieced it together with random defective parts. hehe

yeah, i was spear fishing, truthfully i wanted the lobster for myself, but couldnt hold my breath at 30 feet long enough to get him out. this was a huma huma trigger that was doing this if that helps.

My Niger trigger gets along OK with my coral banded shrimp, the shrimp even cleans him. And I also have a chocolate chip star, who the trigger only picks on when he climbs up too high on the live rock (the trigger simply knocks him off). But these were there before the trigger, & I think the Picasso is a lot more aggressive than the Niger. If you put the inverts in 1st & get the trigger when he's small, you might be OK.
