Looks to me like aptasia. I believe aptasia is french for "nasty anemone you don't want in your tank because it will multiply and grow quickly and soon cover your live rock".
Ok so it isn't French but thats what aptaia can do.

first off...

and your attractive anemone appears to me to be what's commonly refered to as a curly Q aiptasia...(the most attractive of the species) while i'm not 100% certain...i am willing to bet it is.

aiptasia's will effect other corals and anemone's surrounding it...has your green star shown sign of any adverse effects?

how long have you noticed this anemone? if it got that big in a matter of a few weeks, no doubt it is an aiptasia. while there are many ways, some caustic, to rid your tank of aiptasia, most are hit and miss. invariably most say that an injection of kalkwasser right into the stalk of the anemone is the most effective, i believe it's also the most caustic! also, at this size, it seems to be that a peppermint shrimp (w. lymsata) will not be interested in eating the anemone.

good luck!

Good enough...he's a goner! He;s grown FAST and isn't the prettiest Anemone I've ever seen so it won't be a big loss.

Thanks for the replies. :)

Reefing is like gardening....if it grows fast and healthy with little or no care, it is probably a weed.

I copied and pasted an article that I wrote over in the "I need Help!!!" thread. It might come in some use:

These little pests, also known as Glass Anemones are not as bad as the Heliacus Snails as far as immediate damage. They are ugly, and will bother clams and other corals, by stinging them with their small, yet sever tentacles. In my experience, they bother zooanthid polyps often. If left to grow unchecked, they can easily take over an entire tank.

The best direct method of removal is injecting them with a little calcium hydroxcide. This is so far, the saftest was to inject them. It is likely that once you have them, you always will, since there is usually one or two hiding somewhere, waiting to reproduce.

A favored method of control is peppermint shrimp. Other methods of control are the Copper Banded Butterfly(Which is a hit and miss, if you have a reef aquarium), Berghia sea slugs, which will feed ONLY on glass anemones, and many other chemical solutions.

Hmmm....just my luck.

I have a pretty green one growing too, I suppose IT'S a bad guy too.

Such is life. :?

I'd heard that with GV rock, the Aps are few and far between, but I guess I'm just lucky. :D
