i swear it looks like they are taking over my tank. I think it started when I brought home a new 8 pound piece of live rock. they are very small and almots transparent and crawl in and out of the holes in the lr and in the bottom of the tank. evrywhere i look they are thee. some are large and some are tiny. i think they are multiplying rapidly and i am afraid of what will happen. anyone know if this is ok or if i should do something about it?
soundslike pods what kind of LR?

I agree, sounds like you have a nice pod population going. Amphipods, copepods, and so on are all good inhabitants in the tank, eating left over food, fish waste, ditritus, and sometimes even unwanted algae.
I know you have a manderine, which should be loving this food population.
If you could, can you post a pic of them, just to be sure? I'll try to find a nice picture of an amphipod while i'm at it :)

Those will feed your mandarin very nicely. I dont suggest getting a damsel or any of the like. Just one can wipe out the pod population in your tank. I know people that would kill their cat for a nice pod population. LOL
