I recently obtained a small 5inch stingray. He is doing great already eating and seems extremely healthy however he was housed with several larger rays that had bitten into him in several places, just curious if these bite marks will heal. They are small indents on the edge of his body. Will these wounds grow out as he gets bigger or is he scarred for life.

they should heal, but you need to make sure the other rays quit biting him, how bad are the bites, and what kind of ray is he?

I am having trouble finding out what type of stingray it is. I was told it was a teacup ray. when i did some research i could find this species as a fresh water ray. Anyways i rescued hom from a tank with bigger rays and put him in my tank. since then i have had to remove my snowflake from that tank due to his aggressive behavoir. The wounds are starting to heal but there is some skin missing off the edge of his body.

can you post a pic? i love watching rays swim. at seaworld you can feed them squid, they can kind of hurt when they bite, but usually they just suck it up like a high powered vacuum

This is a picture of the little guy he is great fun to watch, espicially when he is eating. His wounds have actually healed up and are not as noticible.

The sand is called Tahitian Moon Sand I bought in i think 10lbs bags that is the black sand you see. I also got some red sand from the fish store and sprinkled it over the top to get the red black affect. The stingray should get pretty big and i am working onn another 200 gallon tank that will be able to hold him for awhile.
