astria turbo snails migrating to the top of the tank?>

my tank just finished "cycling" i.e. the trates trites and ammonia are finally down to zero. so i just added 6 astria snails and 3 red legged hermit crabs to help get rid of the red and brown cyano and diatom algae. is it normal for all the snails to migrate to the top of the tank (the top 1/2 inch of the glass all the way around? this is the first life i have put into my tank other than the rock and wasnt sure if im missing something. it seems like they all want out. the hermit crabs arent really moving either. theyre all alive, but none are moving.

is this normal?

my astrea's hang aroound the top, but really only move at night. they wont eat the red algea though, i would get some cerith snail's, and some dwarf zebra hermits

I have a 55 gallon also and all my astrae snails hang around on top too. You should get some big turbo snails they rip right through almost every type of algae. As for the hermits I dont know what wrong sometimes mine never stop but and sometimes they dont move. Could be molting.
