View Full Version : Wanted: Feeding timer...
What i'm looking for is simple, but I have yet to see one commercially available.
What I want is a simple pushbutton device that will cut power to an outlet, and restore power after 60 minutes automatically. I have seen several timers that seem to do the opposite, but none that cut power on a whim only to restore it later. I simply wish to use a device like this to kill my skimmer while feeding.
Does anyone know of a commercially available one? I'm not good with electrical/circuit-board DIY, unfortunately. I don't want to use a simple timer, since they have to be set every time you feed. I would rather have a simple pushbutton operation device.
I use electronic timers from Home Depot to control my lights. I don't know if they would work for you but it might be worth a shot. The timers have multiple programs so you can program them to go off and on whenever you want, you can program it for 7 days a week too. If you are gonna feed you fish at the same time every day, it might work. Just an idea, hope this helps. BTW the timers were about $20 a piece.

Yeah, I use those timers to control my lighting as well. I really want something pushbutton, since I NEVER know when i'm going to feed. Anything else is far too complex.

why not just wire up and standard light switch and mount on the side of the tank stand then when you feed you just flip a switch, know that I think of it I may do this on my tank light switches are cheap enough its just making it look nice an neat that would be the only problem I see

....that and you'd have to remember to flip the switch to turn the skimmer back on, which is exactly what i'm trying to avoid :) I can and *will* forget :)
Wow, with the way skimmers behave with certain foods (cyclop-eeze to name one), i'm surprised no one's made a device like this.
