Does anyone have any good tips for cleaning glass without using windex or any other toxic substance? I am always afraid of poisoning my fish.

I just spray freshwater on mine and use a piece of crumpled up newspaper to dry it.
works like a charm for me

Plain white vinegar works exceptionally well, that it, if you can stand the smell

I put windex on a paper towel away from my tank to keep the BAD out

Tangwang is right about it working but it does smell so I diluted it.
I bought a new spray bottle and filled it with vinegar and water. I try to keep the mix about 70% water and 30% vinegar. Works awesome. Thanks tangwang!

Do you not have a cover over your tank? I have a wooden case over the top, and then glass covers inside that. I always use windex, and it's never caused a problem. If your tank is not covered, then you could spray onto a paper towel first, or get a non-ammonia cleaner. They're readily available in even grocery stores.

I use my wife's dish cloths and sleep on the couch
