I have a strap wrench that works great... but i have been working with 1.5" and 2.0" PVC. I am not sure if it would work as well on smaller pvc.. What size pvc are you working with?

your better off getting a pvc cutter from the hardware store. They are handheld and cuts through pvc like butter. Plus there's no mess.

Ya know murphy's law will come into play if you get under your tank and start trying to twist something that aint gonna come free...something always breaks before pvc cement breaks loose...and usually something down the line that you definatly didnt need to break!!!! 8)
