I have a 90 gallon FOWLR. What temp do you keep your tank? I am getting conflicting information. I have read and heard 79-80 F. LFS told me today to keep at 75-76 F. ??????

i keep my tank's between 76-78 some corals dont to good @ 80, and it is stressful on the fish, but some corals flurish at 80-82. just depends on what you want to keep. personally 78 is good for me

72-78 is nominal for tropical fish.. Some people do run a hotter system, but allot of the times its only because they are using MH lighting and it keeps the tank up there and sonce they have no real ill effects they leave it. Note: algae will grow more rapidly in a hotter tank generally.. If you look at most fish stats it will tell you the proper temp for them should be 72-78. So I would run in at 78 like greg suggested as well.. BTW, thats what I run mine at too.

I agree that most fish are pretty tolerant and corals seem to be the only thing that really is affected by temp. And most of that depends on how deep in the water the coral is in the wild.
I keep mine at 78 as well.
I think it is important to try to maintain as consistent of a tempurature as possible as the water chemistry and salinity will change with tempurature changes.

Thank you! I will be adjusting my temp down to 78, 1 degree every few days.

I keep my 55 FOWLR at 80-81 and my fish seem ok... my 5 1/2 nano is kept at room temp, i dont have a heater on it at all, i guess the 28 watts of PC light give it some heat.
