Most puffers will eat all inverts placed into tank. Without being specific about what puffer you have it is hard to tell what it will do. I would not put any inverts into the tank. Maybe some small hermits would survive do to size factor.

i wouldn't do any shrimps....most puffers will eat them. you can do hermit crabs.

The crab you are describing is called an Arrow crab. These crabs can grow to 6" and the larger specimens may eat small fish. It depends on what size your puffer is.
What part of Delaware do you live in?

live in middletown DE, but ive been all over DE, anywho you migh have seen me in a LFS sometime, anyway...im guessing since the arrow head crab would probly eat my damsels and the puffer isnt that big yet i can just go with the hermit crab, byt the way what do they eat?

I am new to the hobby, but i can tell you this much, when I grew up in florida, we used to catch puffers all the time while going for trout and redfish. The bait used was live shrimp. So based on that I would say definately no to shrimp with a puffer.

Another suggestion would be to remove that puffer from the 20 gallon tank.
