Anime fans?

I was just wondering if anyone else on this board was a fan of Anime.

Yup. I'm an anime fan. My favorites, Akira, Princess Moninoke, Spirited away, as well as a very large range of movies from blockbuster :)

That's cool... I'm looking foward to seeing Spirited Away. I've heard it is great. I work at an Anime store (The only one here in Memphis) on Saturdays and as a Christmas gift my boss told me to pick out a DVD for free. (Sweet!!!) Unfortunatly, I have already bought everything that I wanted from the store :P so he let me delay picking a title until I see something that I really want.

Two words- Cowboy Bebop. I know that everyone and their mother likes it, but it really is very well done. Grave of the Fireflies is another good one, so is The Wings of Honnemise (I know that I butchered the spelling there, a friend of mine used to call it The Wings of Honey Mayonnaise. He also used to wear a Burn Up! shirt to school that I was always jealous of :mrgreen: ). I never did understand Dragonball Z though, it was too much like professional wrestling crossed with a soap opera. And like Yu-Gi-Oh the story never went anywhere. It should also be illegal for anyone to make any more giant fighting robot animes. It's been done to death. Ranma 1/2 and Speed Racer were also good. Go Speed go! I wonder if Speed Racer will ever be made into a motion picture.

I have to correct myself there, professional wrestling is a soap opera.

Oh yeah, I forgot Ghost in the Shell. But I thought that Ninja Scroll was garbage. :(

I found Ghost in the shell boring :? Ninja Scroll was good though :) The worst one would have to be that Bubblegum movie...anybody know the name? It has been on the Action Channel for DirecT.V. a couple times :roll:

I never liked Ghost in the Shell either. I like Masamune Shirow's original drawings though. (I don't think you can call them drawings if they are mainly CG... maybe so) Oh and you might be thinking of Bubblegum Crisis or Bubblegum Crash, PH. I own Ninja Scroll, so that tells you what I think about it. Here are some of my favorites that I posted on another message board:
