Our 55 is about 6 months old, everything was transfered from a 29 that was 6 months old at the time. Specs are:
50-60lbs LR
1-2" ls
Excalibur protein skimmer
4 Maxi-jet 900's
Dual 175w 10k MH
Dual 96w actinic PC's
fluval 304
Korralin 1502 Calcium reactor

fish were just added back in this weekend after 6 weeks of quarantine:
1 firefish goby
1 clown goby
2 blue/green chromis
1 6 line wrasse
1 flamehawk

we have a large BTA and a pair of ocellaris clowns in a 29 waiting to move to the 55.

Hope you like it

Thanks Joey88. It's nice to hear someone else appreciatte our tank! Each month we save and buy additional equipment. The calcium reactor was something I never thought we would purchase but my wife really wanted it so who am I to argue :D. Background is going on this weekend finally. It's dark blue fading to black at the bottom. I also have 4 DIY Led moonlights hooked up.

What kind of clean up crew do you have? I have about the same amount of live rock as you and I stacked it differently and I dont like it. So I mite change it to look kind of like yours. Does anyone else have a 55?

Your tank is looking good Jason. 8) How many watts of compact flourescents do you have on the left side?

I dont know if you are talking to me but I never had any luck with occelaris clowns. Are you wanting to get a pair of clowns? Occelaris and perculas always take to a certain spot and stay their and swim funny. I like other clowns like orange skunks, maroons, clarkis, and tomatoes.

Jason Gilman: Your tank looks great. Had any problems with the Flame Angel nipping?

After all the compliments we have ripped the tank down and rebuilt it :( A small BTA that we had died buried in some rocks so almost everything had to come out to get to it. We added a large LTA from another tank so now 1/4 of the right side is bare (LTA only) until it establishes itself. Instead of the low profile spread out look from the pic I posted we now have a taller more compact look going on. I'll try and post pics this weekend.

clean up crew: We have 2 small fighting conchs, 10-15 turbo snails, 10-12 hermit crabs, 1 sea serpent, 1 peppermint shrimp, and 1 cleaner shrimp.

ocellaris clowns: We love our Ocellaris (Ozzy and Harriet) They aren't as mean as our gold banded pair and actually swim around the tank, unlike the gold banded. We moved the Ocellaris last night, with the LTA, from a 29 that had a divider in it to the 55. This morning they are swimming the entire, I think they like the extra space, and the removed threat of the gold banded pair constantly watching them through the acrylic divider!

Sorry for the long post,
Jason

Jason, thanks for the info. I think we may hold off on the angel for a while.

Here is a pic of the rebuilt tank. Keep in mind that 1/4 of the right side is now housing just an LTA.

Here is a pic taken right after I moved a couple corals so the bubbles, kenya tree, and torches are all retracted. We have a Maxima up on the top and a new Crocea down front in the sand.

The white spray bars are a new DIY project that I am trying out. I am running a SCWD off of a Fluval 304. Not a lot of flow but a nice bit of changing direction. We'll see how it works out.
