Welcome to the forums Tiburon!! Hope you enjoy your stay!

I don't know too much, if anything on freshwater, hehe. I have a planted tank, but I only know how to top off the evaporated water. Quite a few people started out with freshwater, so I wish you luck in getting some quality advice from reefers!

I had a 10 gal. freshwater when I was young, but I only had one fish in it, a pleco. I had 2 Fire Belly Newts in there though. Then the pleco ate the back off of one of my newts!!! I took the pleco back to the fish store and gave the other newt away with the 10 gal to a friend. Just before I got the saltwater aquarium I was running a 3 gal. with some Neon Tetras. I gave that to my mother and she promptly killed all the fish. The last fish that she had in there was doing pretty bad so she decided she would give it some air. She took the fish out of the tank!!! I was like, "Mother what were you thinking? Did it ever occur to you that there is a reason they are in the water?" Now she wants a Betta... I'm going to get here a book about fish care instead! Speaking of Bettas, I keep one in a small vase. He is 1 and a half years old and doing great. (Needless to say, my mother doesn't go anywhere near him!)
