Its funny , sometimes the clarki will hang out in this coral , damn near all day long . he just recently adapted to hosting it , before that it was a patch
of frilly shrooms

Hey, I had a couple fish die my manderin and one of my orange skunk clowns. The other orange skunk cloen is about to die. I just got them and ich is killing them. I hate ich! You know it makes me feel bad. Oh well... :(
I guess I will let my tank run a little while then get some new fish. What fish do you have? I got my leather wedged between two rocks hopefully it will attach. Do you have 2 clowns or one? I always see two in a tank.

i have a big yellow tang, clarki clown and 2 green cromis .

jOEY , how long have you had your reef set up ?

It was set up for a year as a FOWLR then I made it a reef. I had a yellow tang, 3 green reef chromis, and a yellow watchman goby that died. Then I added a manderin, a bicolor pwudechromis, and two orange skunk clowns. The manderin, and one orange skunk clown died, but the other one is about to. Should I put it out of its misery? The ich started when I added the new fish. Contamination stupid LFS! I love your tank it looks awesome what addidtives do you use?

first of all you should have put them in a QT tank. any new fish you want to do that to make sure their fine and if they get anything you can treat them. or have some cleaner shrimp in there. my fish wait in line to be cleaned sometimes. just my 2 cents. hope that helps you in the future. sorry to hear about your fish.

Well I am 15 with no job or money and I dont have the money to get a quarantine tank. But I will be getting a cleaner shrimp ASAP.

i agree with reefcrazy , would help to get the fish in QT, however. considering your circumstances... you might tey this .
you may wanna spend a few bucks (5-10) at the LFS , and get some parasite treatments for reefs , i used stop parasite once for my maroon clown
and 2 years later hes still very healthy.

Oh ya, you asked about additives , the only thing i use is Kent Turbo-Calcium .
For food , im using Live cultured phytoplankton that a friend of mine is producing , as well as zooplankton. Phytoplankton is great for corals and clams.

Cool I am using Kents Tech CB and lugols solution. I use the stop parasite stuff the garlic additive but no luck. One clown survived. Hey tatfish can you put your tank in the rate my tank, and give all the info and stuff. I love your tank! Looks very mature. Oh yeah I finally got my rocks the way I like them. But in the process I knocked my umbrella leather that finally attached off of the rock. Man I felt stupid! DOH!

Tattfish is right it doesn't take much money to set up a QT tank and i belive you can't add the shrimp in there cause if you medicate it might harm him but i think there are invert safe meds but yet again i'm not sure. just carefully read the back of the meds and make sure. good luck also the QT tank keep it simple. you don't have to go crazy with it i think people don't even put gravel or anything in it it's just tank salt water filter and heater.

I wouldnt put the shrimp in the quarintine tank I would put it in my 55. What all do I need for a quarintine tank?

reefcrazy20
01-18-2004, 05:53 PM
all i have is filter of course if your medicating you want to remove the carbon, heater, tank, hood i don't have gravel or decorations.

I have an extra 5.5 gallon tank I could use, I also have a powerhead with sponge could that be the filter? The sponge has been in the 55 reef for alittle while. And I already have the medication. Should I use a heater? I have one. How long should I leave the fish in the QT tank?

I guess I will set up a QT tank. I want to get a pair of clarki clowns, a lawnmower blenny, and a couple clown gobys.
