The tank is a 6' long tank but has the dimensions of a 55. This is how it is only 80 gal. The tank has a 4-5" DSB of southdown play sand, approx 120 lbs of live rock, current inhabitants include a powder blue tank, coral beauty, 3 green chromis, devil damsel, hairy mushrooms, blue stripped mushrooms, hammer coral, plate coral, macroalgae, numerous pods and bristleworms.

I am using a remote sump behind the wall that is a 30 gal tank with approx 20 gal of extra water and a few lbs of base rock to add in the bio filtration. The main circulation pump is a little giant 4-MDQX-SC that pumps at about 3' head. The tank is lit with 2 96W PC 10K and 2 96W actinic bulbs.

Zack if your refering to the algae on the back glass and the overflow I attrbute that to only having 2 snails in the tank.

I am sure if I had more that would not be as noticable. But really its not that bad given I scrape the back glass maybe once every few weeks.

Your live rock looks fantastic. How long did it take for it to get like that?

Great tank ff. Looks really long. :) Do you chromis school?? It looks good when they do. Plate looks healthy.
Keep up the good work.

The tank is 6' long.

I have three chromis and yes they are always together.

The algae on the rock in the "right side" photo is now all the way to the top of the water.

Is the devil damsel the purple one. If so, that is a very nice damsel.

Its more blue.

Not sure why the photos make it look that color. The rest of the tank and fish are just about the true color but that damsel really is purple in the pics vs its more blue color.

It's the blue/actinic lighting, it throws off the color filter in the camera. If you use a flash it will eliminate the color change. The same thing happens when I take photo's of the Koran or Regal tang...

I dont think its that exactly. I have a nikon 4500 and I set the white balance by using the tank.

If it was that I would have been led to belive that all the colors would be shifted. But the rest of the tank appears in person exactly how the photos are except for that one fish's color.

It's the camera, Nikons have a problem with blue sometimes. As you know, I have the Nikon 995 I get the same thing. In cases with chromis and other fish with an irridesence (spelling) you will get some pretty unpredictable results when using the flash also...remember my blue damsel??

Here is an excerpt from a review of the 995...

Color Quality & Tonal Range
Even the first prototype unit I tests showed very good color, and the production model was just as good. The outdoor shot (seen in minature at right) looked quite nice, with good skin tones, and excellent tonality. The always-problematic blue flowers ended up a bit purple, the 995 falling victim to these very difficult blues. The rest of the color was very nice though, and the 995's metering system seemed more accurate than most. (Although still requiring some positive exposure compensation in the high-key test photo at right. Color accuracy on my Davebox test looked quite good. (The MacBeth(tm) chart from the Davebox is shown below.) See the pictures page for links to a whole collection of subjects, including a full range of exposure settings for the photo at right, the Davebox, and the Musicians poster.)
