Hello,
What is the proper lighting for lionfish? I have been reading about how alot of light can make them go blind. Also, what is the best way to entice them to eat frozen food instead of live food?

thanks,
Mike

i dont know the answer to the lighting .but try to take a silverside and wiggle it in the water he should come up and gobble it down thats how i used to feed my lion.

I had a Dwarf lion till about a week ago, added some MelaFix to the tank to help my trigger, they didnt say it sucks the o2 out of the water and i lost 2 fish, one being him. He used to only go after live stuff. And i wasnt about to stick my hand by him to try and feed him otherwise... ehhe. As far as light goes, i havent read n e where about them going blind. Mine seemed fine under 220watts

From what I know, for the first few weeks to a month, feed the lionfish live food. Guppies,..etc are fine.

Then starve the guy for about 3-4 days, then introduce silversides etc. He should go for it. Wiggle the food around with thongs. I use a turkey baster. :D

Live freshwater fish are not an ideal food source, nor should they be used as an only food source although for a new addition to the tank live food can help reduce some of the initial stress.

Seems to work for my lionfish.

I think NO fluorescent is fine for a Fish Only tank.
