hi, i really have no clue what this is but it looks pretty cool. i added this peice of live rock about a week and a half ago. its 9 pounds and it has a lot of coraline on it. really nice looking. last night i turned the light on and saw this little feather looking thing almost light blue or purple coming out of the live rock. i think its like a 1/4 of an inch. when a fish would swim to close it would disappear, then come back later. its really pretty but i don't know what it is. its kind of fanned out in a circle and it sways with the water movement. does anyone know. i think its too small for me to take a pic of but i will try, thanks, maria

Maria, I really think a Pic might help here, since it could be quite a large selection of things. First, I would check out this thread:

and click the link provided. See if it's listed there, there's quite a few pages you can look at. Post back if you found it :)

especailly being told the characteristic of "retreating" when there is close movement, my guess would be a tube worm...a common feather duster...but a picture is wortha thousand words!
if it is however an anemone, and it starts to grow quickly, it may presumably be an aiptasia, however, you said it was blue in color, and retracted...aiptasia don't retract much...they stay out in the thick of things so that they might catch lunch...aiptasia are thought of as "weeds" in an aquarium...
