View Full Version : My Glass Is Hazy

I did a 30gal water change the other day thinking that the haze I was seeing in my tank was the water. While I had the water level going down, I scrubbed the inside of the tank clearing algea and such from the glass. Now that the new RO water is in and everything has settled (I added another bag of live sand too), the tank still looks hazy. If I get down close to the glass and look in...down towards the sand, it looks clear as a bell. If I look up towards the lights, I can see stroke marks where I cleaned and such. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting the glass back to where it'd be nice to look through again?

What really works for me, is getting some distilled water. Dipping a nice cloth in it, and scrub the tank very good. I would try not to use any products like 409 or any other cleaning products, just to be safe if it gets into the tank somehow. Anyway, onces wetting the glass down, take a dry cloth, and dry it. I try to do this fairly quickly, so the water won't dry, leaving strokes on the glass. Remember to dry it as good as posible. You should see in inprovment.
If you don't likely it's something to do with your water. I'll go on to that if I have to :)

Are you talking about the inside or the outside of the tank? I was talking about the inside :)

Itchy, Is it hazy like it has algae on it? does it come off easy? Or is it like a mineral deposit and is hard to come off?

It's not hard like calcium deposits or anything. I had my hand in there this morning putting some seaweed in for the Tang and I rubbed some algea off the glass with my bare hand. The glass feels a little bit slippery...not slimy though :) The thing that gets me is we just scrubbed all 4 insides the other day when we did the water change.
