I am going to take advantage of the pc deal that i heard about on this forum and need to know what lights to buy. 7100 blue or 03 actinics and 6700 white or 10000 white and could you tell me the diff. this is for my 45gal. reef tank. Thanks Tim (panasonic pin config.)

Hi I would go for the 03's and 10k's. The advantage in having the o3's are that it is good for corals and benfits them. While the 7100k does not do as much. The 10ks because of the crisper white that really brings out the corals a lot more! Good luck with whatever u do :D

Whichever ones you chose will be up to you. Corals seem to respond more to more actinic lighting, but usualy the reefer does not find this blue color natural. I would try and get a mixture of the lights, and find an equil balance that you and the corals seem to like. I would personally go with the Actinic 03, and the 10,000k daylight. Using the 7,100k actinic wouldn't be as blue as you might want it, with the 10,000k daylight.

Day lighting usually have a yellowish look to it, and when suplied with the proper amount of actinics, you can get a very nice white color. The 03 Actinic, and the 10,000k daylight would be awesome, although you could get away with the 7,100 Actinic and 6,700k daylight, but as I said, it's all up to what you can the corals like best.

This isn't necessarily true. The "color" of the light does not determine anything. As long as there is enough of it, corals will use any wavelength just fine. Thus, in your case, as long as the output is the same on all of them, it is just a matter of personal preference. As mentioned, the 6700 will have more of a yellow tint and the 10000 will be "whiter". I would go with the 10000 too.

i'm using two 10,000k and two 7,000k actinic on my 25 gallon reef tank...you'd be surprised how much intense lighting can do for a reef tank!!!

I am very happy with a combo of 10k and the true 03 actinic. The blue bulbs never did appeal to my eye. The actinic PC do not have the same color as the VHO variety, but is pretty darn close.
