I hope these pictures aren't too big, but I didn't want to lose any detail. They were taken by Greg Rothschild. The right equipment and talent makes a big difference!

Some of the colors look different with the brighter flash, and now you can see every strand of bryopsis, and every thread of mucus that the vermitid snails spin out. Some of the reds don't look that red either under my normal tank lighting, but the flash really brings them out nicely.

What camera was used?

Yeah, Greg's great! I couldn't believe how patient he was, waiting for that gramma to swim out. We had turned the lights on in the middle of the day when I normally have my lights off (my tank's normal photoperiod is from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am so I can see it when I'm home, plus it's cooler and electricity costs less at that time). I think the fish were a little pissed and bleary and were still rubbing their eye boogers out when we were taking their pictures.

You'll have to ask Greg what camera he uses, I have no idea other than it looked big and heavy and was digital. Here's a link to his site: http://www.gregrothschild.com/

WOW

How long has your tank been up?

What type of lighting?

Thanks

Hi Big Phil,

The tank was set up in 1996. Lighting has varied over the years but right now it's 4 40-watt fluorescents (a mix of actinics and 50/50's, usually) plus 1 96-watt power compact.

One hell of a beautiful tank. Hopefully my 125 will look that amazing in the near future.
