instead of wanting to add stuff just make sure they have really good water quality and take your time on searching for the right additives to supplement them with!

I am using ro water. I have proper lighting. And proper filtration.
And my water chem is good. I?m trying to take one step at a time.
There are a few frags im looking at getting. I just want to have the chems before I buy anything.
What im really asking is. From experience what are the best additives for the best resolts. Chem. types, Brand name, Etc
Also could anyone give me some ideas on what type to buy? Im always open for suggestions

If you do frequent water changes, there's no reason to "supplement" for growth. I use NSW and do a 20% water change weekly, no dosing is necessary. The "secret" to growth is water and light, not additives.

All you really need to dose as far as chemicals go is some sort of balanced calcium / alkalinity supplement. SPS frags use calcium and alkalinity to build their calcium carbonate skeletons, which is how they grow. SPS seem to use more of both so if you add several sps frags you will have to dose frequently. I personally use Kalkwasser mix with good results. Mix 1-2 tsp of powder per gallon of R.O. water in mixing container (That has a lid) and stir well. Let the solution sit for several hours to allow the unsoluable solids to settle to the bottom. Then drip the clear solution in the middle of the container into your sump or high flow area of the tank. You can also use 2 part bottled supp's like B-ionic and C-balance. Just ad by the directions and test to see if you need to add more. The reason I recommend Kalkwasser is that it is known for precipitating Phosphates out of the water. Phosphates inhibit growth of SPS corals etc. Kalkwasser also has a high ph ( around 12 ) so it will aid in PH maintenance of the tank. You need to add slow by dripping because of the high ph you do not want to raise the ph of the tank too fast. This is why it is recommended to drip Kalk at night because this is when the tank has the lowest ph. If you drip it slowly you can add it 24/7. Just dose as much kalk solution as you have in water evaporation from the tank. I hope this helps !
