Just started my first saltwater tank after years of freshwater. my tanks been up for 1 week and starting to cycle. After I added my live rock a visitor showed up on the side of my tank which looks like a very small chocolate chip starfish. My question is will he last through the cycle. I was going to add some ammonia to my tank to speed up the process but I am not sure if I should do it now. i'm starting with a FOWLR so any answers would be appreciated

chances are it won't survive unless you add some artificial bacteria to the system, not sure if you've heard of a make called sera? but they do two products which work brilliant, one called ammovec and one called nitravec, which do as what they say in the title, one gets rid of nitrite and the other gets rid of ammonia straight away. use them in conjunction with each other, as for youre little friend mr starfish, he's ok in a FOWLR tank but if you decide to add corals, get him out, he's aggresive towrds corals.
