I've recently got an 72g oceanic RR bow. I'm planning on lighting it with 4, 96w pc's. Will these be sufficiant for an reef application.

I have the same tank and had the 4 x 96w when I first setup my tank and felt it was too bright, so I exchanged it for a 4 x 55w. Now after months of growth and addition of live rock I plan on adding 2 more 55w bulbs. So I would say go with the 4 x 96w, you will be very happy with it.

I agree with matrixnyc on the bulb configuration!!!

How could it be 'Too Bright?' The more lighting the better, esspecielly for more light needing corals that you might want to have later on.

Anyway, PC's will do for most corals. I agree also with matrixnyc on the lighting issue with Actinic 03 and daylight lighting to make a whitish color. PC's would be fine for most corals. Corals/Inverts such as Anemones, Goniopora, and perferably SPS/clams shouldn't be added under your current lighting. Remember, that is JMO. Some people have kept clams and SPS under florecent lighting, PC's, but I wouldn't recommend it.

I know i was new to reefing at the time and came from a fish only tank with 2 65W PC. I have been very happy with my setup thought just want a little more know.

I use PC lighting exclussively on my 2 current tanks.

I have a 20 High and an 80 gal LONG tank.

On the 20 H I have 2 36W PC's and I plan on upgrading those to 2 55W PC's when I replace my bulbs.

On the 80 L I have 4 96W PC's. Each tank has 1/2 of the bulbs at 10K and the other half are actinics.

I have a 45 high that is currently empty and I had 1 96W PC and 2 13W actincs on it but I am leaning toward 1 175W MH and a 55 W actinic when I get everything up and running again because of its depth.
