My fuzzy dwarf lionfish hasn't been eating normally the last few days. The LFS had him on rosy reds (I, think) when I got him. I brought a couple rosies home with him (cuz I heard that they can live a day or two in SW) but they died within an hour, and the lionfish was too busy looking around (in my 90 gal.) to eat. So, I bought some frozen krill and tried him on that. He took to it right away (i've heard it can be hard to switch from live to frozen). I've had him over 2 months now, just feeding him krill (1-3 pieces once a day). He normally hides all day and comes out to feed in the the evening, then hides after feeding til the lights go out. The last 4 days, he won't come out to eat. I feed him the krill on the end of a wooden skewer. Now I have to reach my arm in to get the food right in front of him to tempt him to eat. Twice he ate one piece, twice he refused in the last 4 days. He has only skipped the occasional feeding in the last 2 months. But 4 days without coming out is a change in behavior, so I thought I'd ask the "experts" here. You guys have always been helpful before (usually without posting, just by finding the already asked question, lol). Should I worry or not? He looks good and nothing has changed (no new fish or anything). I'd appreciate any advice, especially from anyone who owns one of these beautiful fish.

Do you have intense lighitng in your tank? Its normal for lions to "sit" in one place for a long period of time, but a healthy one should be move quite a bit. how big is the fish? how much size wise are you feeding him? When I kept lions, I would only feed them every other day at the max. They are much like puppies, and are easily over fed. Getting him off of live food is a definate positive. While its cool to watch them hunt/trap/eat live food, it is also very unhealty. I love these fish, they are what got me into this hobby, but overfeeding and a poor diet, will unfortunately lead to their demise.

That is a great article! FYI, my lionfish has been coming out to eat again. He just must not have been very hungry. I am thinking of varying his diet after reading that article. I'm just not real sure what I'm going to add. I've heard that he will be fine on the frozen krill, but your article suggests otherwise. I guess I'll just have to check what my other options are at LFS. Thanks a lot for the help!!
