WWAAYY TOO MANY TANGS

i have just been informed that reeflounge member NB2SB has a blue tang, a yellow tang, and a scopas tang in a 38 gal!!! i tried to help him, but he doesnt understand. lets help him!

It might be OK to have 3 tangs in one tank if they are all of different species and if the tank is like 150+ gallons. I have a 120 and I used to have a Powder Blue, Sailfin and Kole tang but the Powder Blue and Kole faught so much that they ended up causing severe problems. Now I have a Naso and a Yello and although they are completly different, they still bicker from time to time. The more they fight, the more chance you will have for stress and disease. Also, I would not recommend anything less than a 75 GAL. tank for the yello or blue tang...especially together!

umm did u read that its in a 38 gal? i kno ppl learn from mistakes, but i never expected a mistake that big!!! this remindes me of the incident wit aliask8 :?

lol yeah, i mean i can see keeping one tang in a 38 gal if set up properly, id on't advise it but i mean 3 tangs :S

i wouldent keep one in anything less than a 50 gal.(unless its a baby and u dont plan on keeping it for long)

first off i think this attack was uncalled for. yea he has 3 tangs but average size is 1in - 1.5inches. he alrdy has a deal with his lfs to sell them back when they get to be around 3 -4 or half grown basically. i know this cause i helped him at the start. i also warned him and tried to persuade him away but he is very head strong in his habits. i jus feel this was a pretty personel attack nano when you didnt have all the facts.

I Have Not Posted For A While But When I Saw This I Got Pissed Off. First Of All If We Are Talking About Overcrowding Ask Nanoman123 What He Has In His 10 Gallon Tank. Second Of I Thank 1996 Cobra Because I Do Have Deal With The LFS The I Will Sell Them Back The Tangs At 5 Inches. Right Noow The Biggest Tang Is 3 Inches Including The Tail. So I Would Think Before Jumping On Me Find Out Some Information About What I Am Doing With The Tangs And About My Tank. No Wonder Why Nanoman Got Banded.

if thats the true reason then i dont agree as there are a couple very well known people over there. if they cant take a little competition on this site then theres something wrong. basically its a site jus like ours but an offshoot for a store. since they spot a few conterversal people are we not aloud to mention the store as well?

I have a clown tang, kole tang, yellow tang, hippo tang in my 75 gal tank. They have bin living together for a wail now. As long as there is lot of hiding spots I think it should be fine. IMO. The deal he has with his LFS is good as well. Why not take a chance and see what happens.

Well, personally....(let me say again...personally)...I don't like to crowd Tangs. As I have stated in the past...they are built for speed. So, they need the space...not just tons of LR...they need OPEN space.

yup im with fiji on this again. frankly im tired and its the am so im going into detail. what your doing is causing stress. you have 4 animals not to mention what ever else you have cramped into a little tank. they are meant to cruise the top and sides of the reefs. you shouldnt make deals to resell back to the lfs unless you really have to. when you do that you stress the fish out cause your taking away the only thing it ever really knew or called home. chances are especially with a tang it will stres sout in the crappy conditions of a lfs and die. ive seen it all to many times at mine and im sure it happens many other places. what your doing to this fish imo is cruel and you shouldnt be doing. this hobby is more then jus what you can get out of it and i hope someday you see that. maby then youll see what your making those animals go threw for your personel enjoyment.
