My friend who owns a LFS called me today and told me to stop by his place if I had time! When I got there he had a little yellow tang (about an inch and a half long) and another coral beauty the same size as the little yellow tang and he was holding them for me! I told him to bag them up then he sprang another surprise on me, He had a MALE Orange Tail Blue Damsel that Ive been trying to get for 6 mos as well! I got all three fish for 36 bucks!!! I took the big coral beauty (about 3 and a half linches long) out of my 75 and put him in the 58 to start eating the algae there, took the damsels out of the 58 and put them in the 20 high I had setup with nothing in it for the last 3 weeks and put the yellow tang and the little coral beauty in my 75 along with my medium sized snowflake eel and my small black warty frogfish! My wife almost had a stroke when she got home! Heheh anyhow all is said and done now but I have to buy her a new lion fish to make up for my 3 new fish today!

He is about 11 inches long, dont worry he wont touch anything live! He is the most finicky eater I have ever come across. He will not eat anything other than silversides! Not even fresh grass shrimp, shiners, rosey reds, krill, nothing but silversides!

Sounds like the eel doesn't have much of a varried diet. What foods have you tried feeding him? Sqiud, Shrimp, silver sides, lance fish, krill, etc. are all some foods eels will eat. Usually they will only stick to a certain food if you fed the eel too much of one food for too long of a time. Try adding in some extra foods along with the silver sides for a while. Eventually the eel will probably take to the food.

what is special about the MALE orange tail damsel? breeding purposes?

Just curious cause I have an orange tail with a super bright tail and bottom side, unlike any other i have come across. but i am unsure of his sex

The male is for companionship purposes mostly, and since adding him to the tank they have become insepperable, the female has hollowed out a nest under one of my larger pieces of live rock, thats their territory and even the largest dominoe damsel I have doesnt even mess with them! Hopefully they will breed. Ive never heard of them breeding in captivity before but I got the male for the female just to keep company.

Sounds like you got a great deal, I wish my lfs was that cool. I would probably have to pay twice that for those fish.
