Hey Gang,

Ok here's yet another set of questions :)

My 75 Gal, originally was going to be a deep reef, however, I am in debate for several reasons, about making it a fish tank.

1) Maintaining 3 reef's already 10-30 Gals.

2) There are just so many attractive FISH! ;)

Here's whats in the setup so far:

75Gal
90lbs Kaelini/Tonga live rock
20lbs Activated sand
20lbs Live Sand
WD/protein Skimmer (CPR)
Mag 7 Drive

Now here is what I need to know

My LFS has told me that FOWLR is not that great because fish get sick, and its very hard to catch/treat them in such a setup.

Fish I plan to keep:

Niger Trigger
Angel Fish
Wrasse

Now I know the niger trigger can go into reef tanks, but what kind of clean up crew would I need? Same as a normal reef? Snails, Red Leg Hermits, etc?

What about some coral's as decor? What kinds are suitable etc.

I'm sorry if I am all over the place, I have been reading as much as I can and I'm a bit fried :)

Any input/Advice will be much appreciated!

Tell him to give his head a shake. If introducing new fish via a QT environment first which will normally manifest any parasites or other concerns, you can then safely treat that animal without the need to re-capture and infect the existing fish population. Always QT new arrivals for a minimum of 4 weeks prior to introduction to the main tank and these issues will not plague your success.

If the Niger is kept properly fed, hermits and snails will not be much of an issue. I kept one in a full reef for 3 years and no issues. Best to get them <2" inches and it will improve the odds. Decorative shrimps and sponges may not be wise though. Especially the shrimp with a wrasse.

With the above mentioned fish you are really not that limited except for lighting and what you choose for the angel species. Many of the larger growing species will be a concern with any coral but some types of dwarfs can be 50/50 or better when purchased small or tank raised.
