Just got my t5s. Now I need to run some actinics. Anyone have experience with the T8 actinics? Do they make true actinics for T8s and who makes them? Looking for the ~48" ones.

Yeah, I got the PCs right now. I just want to try overdriving the T8s side by side with my T5s. I saw some at marinedepot but wanted some opinions on which ones are the best.

U can get T8 Actinics through Sylvania Lighting Co or there is the Hagen Marine glo which is a T8 actinic, might be different in the States, nearly all our lamps are T8 in Oz, the only T12 i get is the Phillips TLD 03 actinic.

T8 Actinic are available at Petco. As far as I know, they only come in Actinic Blue. These bulbs are likely made by Sylvania. You might see them under the brand name of Zoomed. If you're in the Austin, TX area, you can get them from Aquatek Fish Store (Tunze USA.)
I'm using four bulbs on my Icecap 660. Two Home Depot 65K Daylight Deluxe($6 for both), and 1 URI SuperActinic VHO, and 1 Osram Actinic Blue.
The t8 actinic blue are very bright compare to the URI SuperActinic.

Wow, the setup is awesome. I fired them up last night. Running 2 T5(46.5"), 2 T8 (48") with an icecap660. Ran it for about 2 hrs. It is definitely alot brighter than my 4x55 watt PC. It's running all day today so I'll check on the heat tonight. If I can get back my digital camera, I'll snap a shot of the tank with before and after.
