Sorry if this is the wrong site to ask this, but from what I've heard, it's a pretty good source. I have a 30 gallon aquarium that I've just set up within 3 or 4 weeks. It's not any special aquarium, it's simply a freshwater aquarium that I will hopefully have something in it in addition to my fish.
I just bought 4 mollies from Petsmart(Probably my first mistake...), to add to my collection of 4 neon tetras(all I could buy with the money I had on me, which was about $15, but I also had to buy some flake food...). My Tetras appeared good, they were healthy for the first two weeks I had them. Then I added 4 mollies in, two were golden, the other two were dalmation/speckled/marbled mollies. Well, as it turns out, the mollies ended up bringing Ich in with them, and now both speckled/marbled/dalmation mollies are dead, as well as two of my tetras. One of my golden mollies looks like she's on her way to the toilet pretty soon, too. I ended up getting Cure-Ick by Aquarium Products. Well, actually, I had my mom pick it up because I was at school, but school's another problem of itself... For freshwater aquariums such as mine, what's the best approach of saving whatever I can? The golden mollie that's the sickest lies on the gravel more frequently, so I'm not sure if I can save her. But can save the rest of my tank? Could I do it without having to set up a QT? I have a 10-gallon tank as well, but I only have one air pump, so I don't know how I could set up the QT unless I bought another pump or share the pump between the two.
I'm thinking that just by looking at the name of my ich product(Cure-Ick), I'm guessing that it's not too reputable, but I'm placing my faith in it for now. So, is there a way I can save my 30gal tank without a QT? And if there is, how do I go about doing it? Do I do water changes daily, every other day, etc? How often do I use my medicine? Daily? Every other?
Any and all help is appreciated.
