im trying to build a refugium out of acrylic. im haveing a hard time finding the weldon 16. can i use eithier elmers superfast epoxy or some stuff called omni stick? both say they dty clear and are waterproof.

Actually, I found a cheaper, and just as reliable method. You can got to your local Wal-Mart, K=Mart, Home Depot, etc, and find a can of pvc cleaner. This solvent works very well in bonding or welding acrylic. Just dissolve some scraps and shavings of the acrylic you are working with in the pvc cleaner, to acheive the desired consistency. You can apply it with a syringe, just as you would Weldon. I have used this method several times, and know several peoples, as well as professionals who also use this method.

I've decided to go the route of building my own sump/refugium. I was going to go with the route of using a older aquarium that I have and bond the acrylic to it. Would I use Weldon for this or aquarium silicone to bond acrylic to glass. I did read in a previous post that someone mentioned using GE #1 silicone was aquarium safe. I saw two types as someone else had mentioned, kitchen & bath and window & door. Which one would be best for this.
