Hello all-

What is the difference between kelp and spirulina? I've been feeding my yellow tang kelp ever since I got him. I just got a flame angel last week (WHAT a cool fish! ), and have read that they should be fed spirulina.

Thanks-

James

Well first off they are both plants. I'm not to familar with them both but I believe kelp is kelp and spurulina is a macro algae. I believe that kelp has more nutrients but I might be wrong. Just let it eat what it likes though. Don't try to force it to eat something.

Nanoman lettuce is fine for them as long as it isn't iceberg, because it just fills them up and has no nutritional value. Look into romaine and maybe even spinach. Also run a search for "tang heaven" it is the wild plant that they naturally feed on.

>>Spirulina (http://www.spirulina.com/SPBIntro.html)<< is not a plant it is an algae and one of the more nutritious for herbavor animals. >>Kelp (http://www.wetwebmedia.com/brnalgae.htm)<< is also an algae and a desirable food source. Either can be used really with similar benefits. >>Gracilaria (http://www.wetwebmedia.com/redalgae.htm)<< as Watchman has stated is also another great form of macro algae for hebavor animals.

Cheers
Steve
