I have a couple of questions. I have a Red Sea Wavemaster Wave maker but only have 3 power heads installed. Do you think 3 is enough or should I get a fourth?

Is it possible to "over protein skim". I have the ·
AquaC Remora Pro hang on protein skimmer with Mag 3 pump.
My local aquarium guy tells me that I probably would be ok running it only 50% of the time. Does anyone have an opinion on that?

I run a similiar setup and use three, and it works fine for me,it also depends on what size powerheads. I'm using three Mini-Jet Powerhead 606 153 GPH which is generaly considered a small power head. also depends on return circulation.I'm running about 800+gph.

Yes, You went to set the colection cup to produce a darkgreen waste. If you are pulling out light green or clear your overskimming.

50% of what?

So, as long as the waste is dark in color I should leave the skimmer on, right? I had left it on 24/7 until just a few days ago when I hooked it to a timer to run from 10 pm to 10 am. BTW the waste in my skimmer seems to be more of a dark brown color.

I don't know what my return rate is. I bought this aquarium from a guy who already had set it up. I guess I can look at the return pump out of the sump and see if it has any designations.

Thanks for the info.

I would recomend you start the skimmer at the highest position and work your way down.

I recently got a used 72 gallon reef ready bowfront tank. I was wondering about flow rates? I bought 2 maxi jet 1200, 1 on each end, and plan on getting a power sweep head to place in the middle wall on the back pointing forward. I have no idea what my return from the filter is for this tank. So basically is that considered enough? Like I said I dont know the numbers on flow rates but from what I have read on reef lounge I'm thinking thats about right? Any help is appreciated?
