I've asked several people and they don't know what this guy is. Maybe one of you can help.

this thing is brown in color and is in a hole in the lr. there is cracks that run all along it and they open and close and there is two holes in it that open and close also. i don't know if it's hard or soft i never touched it. it's got me baffled. it came on a rock that was supposed to have a dead porite colony on it but it's very much alive.

It looks like some type sponge. That would be my guess.

I have no clue :?

I have many of them growing in my tank. My guess would be a seasquirt of some sort. My best advice, would be to see if Dr.Ron could identifie it, if all else fails. He has his own forum over at www.reefcentral.com

PH =)

i have to agree...seems like (from the discription) a sea squirt, which would be a suspension filter feeder...Dr. Ron Shimek's answer forum can be seen here (http://www.reefcentral.com/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?s=b2b5133fcad94c4dcb7d018dd9b1954 4&forumid=40)

although, when i tried the link earlier, there were some technical issues (no threads in fourum...i know that he's off thursday's and friday's

also, you may be able to ask him directly at his website at: http://www.rshimek.com/

Dr. Shimek has helped me identify many a "temple-scratcher"!

good luck!
