ide get rid of the yellow tang if i was u. they need a minimum size tank of 60 gallons. if u get any other fish, the yellow tang will probably kill them if u dont get him in a bigger tank. he might do ok if u keep just the yellow tang and some inverts such as shrimp in the tank

I have 2 clowns in that tank you just can't see them in that picture, and i have a 55 gal tank for the tang which is plenty big its just cycling, i'll move him over later on, for now i like him in there becuase i don't have a speck of algae left, thats why i got him before my other tank was cycled.

When people put a tang in a smaller tank, or too many in one. Copy paste the website in my signature to read further.

Ok, thanks, i don't plan on keeping him there long, just until my tank cycles through, there is no harm in that.

Great looking tank :)
Do you have any pics of the 55 gallon tank?
What are the specs of the 25 gallon tank.

The 25 gal is 30x12x18, it now has 2 sea mats, a toadstool, blue and green mushroom, sun polyps, candycane coral, hammer coral, blue acropora 2 clowns and my tang.
The 55 gal is probably going to be a fish only tank, but the 50 gallon that i'm cycling i built myself and is 24x24x24, i will try and get some pics of that in tonight, it just has base rock in it now and ammonium chloride to cycle it.

I've got my new corals in, i had such a hard time finding where to put them, this is just a temporary set up. Let me know what you think .

If i were you i would remove the tang. There is not enough space in the tank fo him. He will eventually get stressed and die. Get some clowns, gobies, cardinals and other small reef-safe fishes for that size tank. Is that live rock? Because if it isnt if i were you i would buy LR immediatly!

Yes it is live rock 30 lbs of it, more then enough and no the tang won't die , there is no way that the tank size would cause the death of him its 3 feet long, the extra foot in a 55 gallon tank won't make a huge difference, but thats where he is going anyway. I would like to know of one person who had a tang die is a 3 foot tank. In my lab we keep sturgeon that are allmost the same size as the tank they are in, i'm by no means saying this should be done in any reef tank simply saying it will not kill him, if you read my previous posts you would know that its a temporary home for him while my 55 is cycling. I also am waiting to hear back on a 75gallon oceanic tank that i might be getting for cost so maybe he'll go in there who knows. I appreciate you're concern for the tang, its just allready been posted enough.

I have a yellow ta in my 55 gallon FOWLR sn to be a reef.It seems very happy I have a coral hogfish and I have read that they are bullies and are very mean. Mine acts just like a tang eats romaine lettuce that I put in for the tang. The tang actually schools around with the hog. And the tang police are people who jump on you back for keeping a tang in a small tank. Alot of people say a 55 gallon is to small they say a 75 gallon is the minimum. But that is only a 5 inch width dference adn what do people do with that extra space??? They put more rock and corals. A tang is like a indicator of water qaulity so wait awhile before you put the tang in your 55. Good luck!!!

Dude, a 55g is still to small for a Yellow Tang, they need at LEAST 75g 100 would be good, and 125 would be great, I would suggest not to keep it in a 55g, In the wild these fish swim very fast over long distances FROM REEF TO REEF, IMO, you shouldnt keep a Yellow Tang in a tank under 200g, it can be done moderately well in a 75g but with there habits in the ocean I think it would be cruel, but if you want to keep it in the 55g it will be ok until it is almost full grown.
But Please, Please dont try to keep it for its whole life in the 55g, GO to anything goes and look up my post "Question of Honor" and you can read that.
If you keep it in a 55g

How often do you feed you're tang lettuce, i put some in occaisionally , how long do you leave it in there for as well ?

I personally don't think it is cruel in any way to keep it in a 55 Gallon tank... i don't know how you could say that most yellow tangs in the wild don't live to see the extent of their life span, and there isn't much of a difference at all between a 55 and a 75, the 75 is deeper which really won't have much affect on the swiming room of the tang...

No problem it was sitting in my lfs tank for like a year before i bought it, there is pretty much no one in my town into this stuff, the tonga deepwater i got for my 50 is AMAZING though i ordered it in, i paid top dollar for it though but it was worth it.
