Why would you want to build your own tank?
Is there a reason why you can use any of the tanks from LFS or Online Retailer?
I have heard that some places will build tanks to your specs.
Just trying to save you some headaches that might popup later as you build your tank.
Let me know what you are looking to build, I may be able to point you into the right direction.

If your talking about a wood/glass combo tank then you can find some good plans over at www.garf.org
If your looking for an all glass tank that might be a bit harder given that you have to make sure all the glass edges are sealed and properly supported.
Good luck.

I made my own glass tank once. 100gallon. I only saved about
$50.00. but it probably cost me 150.00 more frustration.

I have successfully made my own tank....and more so it was extremely easy.
My scenario...the short story.
I am an architect and had been into the hobby for about a year when I decided to replace the 20 long I had for a 33 long. Cost, as usual was an issue. So I called one our glazing reps and I had him cut 48x12x12 pieces from the scraps. Granted I got pieces a hair out (1/16") of tolerance - so one was more towards a 1/4"(it became the back), several close to 3/16".....either way, the whole thing was cut at the glazing company, all I had to do was pick it up. And all 5 pieces cost $20.00. Add a tube of aquarium sealent $5.00 and two weekend evenings...and whala. Honestly, its the easiest thing in the world and one never believe silicon could contain that much force. Pretty amazing. I built the base and top all custom.

That looks like a cool tank for $25 plus I bet you had fun building it, I have been thinking about doing this for a 125 but im not sure on the sixe of the cuts of glass or where to get them. what do you think aprox cost would be?

also cost is not the big deal I just think it would be cool to tell my friends that I built the tank they were looking at. Plus how cool would it be to say I built a tank
