I would advise that you try and set up a refugium (A place to grow algeas, most commonly calerpra algeas are used). Wal Mart sells very nice 10 gallon tubs ($8.00) that you could use.

Since you are just setting up up your tank, what I would do is this; When you set up your tank, buy some calerpra algea (Grape would be my favorite). Rubber band some to a rock (if it isn't attached to a rock base alread). Place it perferably at the top (since you will be using NO lighting). Wal mart NO lighting will work for them, same with the 48" 40wt coralife bulbs, which I would perferably use.

With this added now, likely by the time you add the tang, and/or any other herbavourious fish that will graze on this, it would have already spreaded throughout the tank. My blue tang goes crazy over this stuff ;-)

By the way, if you would like to know how to set up a DIY refugium, go ahead and post over in the DIY forum.

I don't see why not. As long as you can control the growth (make sure nothing starts growing into the filter intake, or anything like that) and provide the proper lighting and current, it really shouldn't be a problem.

Turf algea's are something you might want to look into if you want the best results. Although these can be harder to make, and need much more current, the good thing is they are known for pulling out almost twice as much as regular calerpra's do, and don't go asexual :-)
