Does anyone know how to get rid of some of these  I have them all over the place. Is there some thing that eats them? I don't mind a few but, not this many. How did I get so many? Tank is over 2 yrs old. I don't always use RO water from LFS. Sometimes Crystal Springs RO water  I noticed just recently that Crystal Springs now adds nutrients. The 1 gallon jobs are easier to carry up and down 3 flights of stairs  Let me know. Thanks for the help in advance.

I have a couple of them also, but they have not multiplied all over the tank, like yours seems to have done. I don't think anything can get to the to eat them, as soon as a snail or crab gets close to mine, I have noticed that they retract into the tube and stay there for a while.

I think If you really want to get rid of them you will have to remove the tubes from the live rock.

haven't tried it, but seems like the only solution is to remove them.

I am kinda curious as to why you would want to limit these guys?

They are harmless colonial feather dusters. They will actually help with water quality and not add to it's problems. They will for the most part stay in their small groups and when broken or damaged will usually die.

Cheers

I agree with steve. These are mini feather dusters. I got hundreds of them in my skimmer let alone how many are in the tank.

If you absolutly must get rid of them becasue its driving you crasy then you could go on a merderious rampage and use something to destry the tubes they live in.

They are filter feeders and in the correct numbers can be benifical to your water quality.

IMO leave them be. If you must maybe rearrange thr rocks so you not staring at them.

Anything that would eat the feather dusters would also be harmful to most of the rest of the tank. Enjoy the fact that you are more succesful than most in the number you have.

337, This post is probably way too late to do any good. I love tube worms but I found out the hard way that they're far too easy to get rid of.Just toss in an arrow crab.I did.Luckily they're easy to catch. Otherwise Iwould've lost more than the 2 or 3 small tube worms he snacked on.

Well if you really want to get rid of them just pull the rock out of the water and expose them to air for maybe 30 minutes? Shouldn't this sufficate them? What might be beter is dripping cold fresh water on them directly/or just doing a really fast 5-10 cold fresh water dip.

I wouldn't recommend either of those methods.

You will kill everything on the rock. Coraline Algae, other iverts, etc. Just keep them....they are benificial.

I just was saying if he wanted to get rid of them that would be the way to do it. IMO I would could keep them. They are cool.
