Here is a simple membrane flush kit that cost me about $5.00 to build. The supplies are a Quick Connect inline valve, two Quick Connect "T"'s, and some RO tubing. You assemble the valve in the middle of two short lenghts of tubing, then put the t's one the opposite ends of the tubing. Then you simply insert this assembly as to bypass the flow restrictor on the drain line when the valve is opened. This will allow the water to flow freely over the membrane when opened, rinsing the membrane of alot more debris. If the membrane is flushed in this way at least once a week or so for a minute or two, then this will improve the performance of the membrane and allow it a longer life. I've attached a pic of mine below.

I know some of you "seasoned" reefers probably already have one, but this is for the newre reefers.

I use a 5- stage RO unit. the filter you see in the pic, is the inline stage filter, one of the final stages of my RO unit. It is just a plain old replacement inline refrigirator filter, from home depot. It is basically the same thing you would buy from kent or spectrapure as an inline filter, just alot cheaper.

Let me make sure I'm seeing and reading this correctly.
You basicly made a Ro unit to filter water from a filter membrane?
