Yes and no, I dont know ricky's skills but yes, with these new digital cameras your equipment makes very 60% of the photo. But if you dont know how to use depth of field, lighting, white balance and shutter speeds properly your photos will still be crud.

Yeah, Ricky's photography skills are great. I'm sure he could take amazing photos just using a $200 digital camera, and still win most of these contests.
