Wow, that is awesome.
I bought a RBTA from a local reefer and he told me he frags them all the time by cutting it right down the center of the mouth. The one i got was 12" but I didn't have the guts to try it.

I couldnt do that to killer, I have often wondered if he was gonna split but when you look at his foot there is no defined two places, but when you look at the top of him you can difinitly see the two heads, and two mouths, sometimes like in the third photo the big head splays out and the littler head is not seen but it has grown so much and the second head has too when I first noticed it I remember thinking ohhhhhhh geez, do I feed both heads or just the one lol shortly there after I did start feeding both heads but only one expells waste, that I can see but they both take in food. Its weird but intresting at the same time.

Nice set up so far, much better than your old 55g. How do you like having the extra 6 inches (front to back) to work with?

I love it I was able to scape lots of different caves and valleys with the sand and rock. I was also able to seperate the bta from the rest of the corals. Its much nicer. I am finding when my friend comes over to play cards we set up the table in the reef room and we laugh cause we cant seem to concentrate on playing we find ourselves staring at the tank. lol

Why do you have your halides so high?
cindysue
06-22-2008, 06:38 PM
I feel that they are a little to much for the tank it is only a 75 and I dont want to bleach anything out I have lower them a little, they now hang about 16 inches above the tank. Do you think I should lower them further? That was the advice I was given too they should be about 16 inches above the tank and when that pic was taken they were about 20 inches above so thats really an old pic lol. That feels weird to say about a new tank and lights and its only been set up for 2 weeks.

Do you know what metal halide reflectors you have? it looks like you have the circular Coralife pendant but they only make 150 watt versions. Your tank is 20" tall and, you can lower them to 12-14" off the water surface. I have mine 10" off the water.

Ricky,
I am really not sure what kind they are whats funny about it is in the bell it says 175 but the actual socket inside says 250 and the ballast is for 250. Now inside the bell I dont think there is a reflector its just white. Maybe I am not understanding what a a reflector is, I did ask about the reflection, Eddie told me with that size tank and those bulbs that I would have enough light, I asked him if I could put reflection tape inside the bells and he said I could. The ballast says on the outside Cool Touch Lighting.com 250 dual watt.

Wow, your tank looks awesome girl! I love the "fish room" as well. I agree on lowering the lights, just do so gradually and the corals won't bleach. The anenome will probably split on its own and you sell one to the LFS.

My best friend and I contribute to the tank and when she comes over to play cards we will try to think up names for the stuff in the tank and one night she asked me, What role does the anemone play in the ocean and I am always coming up with wise cracks and I thought about it awhile and basiclly I said to KILL lol clown fish reel them in and anemone kill lol and its two headed and huge so killer sounded right and he did kill my first dwarf bird wrasse, the one I have now is my second and he has been ok for now. Thanks Miket:)

Cool pics again.
I'm glad I checked back on this thread! Now I won't be blindsided when Cindysue comes over.
I don't have a tank thread since my camera is from 1985. When I breakdown and get a new one I'll start one. It'll be good for me to get everyone's opinions on what I can improve.
For now, this is the only pic I have.

Your Welcome Don, Hey you were saying on another thread about how you cant reach some algae in your tank cause of the depth, how I do it is attach a scraper to the end of your siphon and scrape while sucking, make sure to turn off all your power heads so you dont spread the algae through out the whole tank, and Don you had so little algae in your tank I really wouldnt worry about it, your tank looked Great.

I was just raeding an article about algae. It stated that if you remove all the algae from your system it will come back faster due to no or little competition for nutrients. I understand that a healthy system should have some algae here or there.

Right. You can't have a reef without some algae. I just try to maximize coraline and minimalize nuisance algae.
Mike O'Brien
07-01-2008, 03:08 PM
It all comes down to the old in and out. Algae is removing nutrients from the water. If you remove it all of a sudden, it's just like turning off the skimmer.

Like I said at the end of the sentence while posting for reebs that he had very little and to really not worry about it I was just giving him an idea if it did get out of hand, his tank is deep and its hard for him to reach. I agree with you mindi I like having the good algae (coraline) and get rid of the nuisance algae. Ive heard Eddie say that before cause Ive pointed out that he had some nuisance algae and he said that in most tanks its gonna happen you just try to keep it under control.
